Oregon is a state known for interesting geological formations, much of its landscape carved by the volcanoes and torrents of rain so much associated with the Pacific Northwest. Stein’s Pillar, in the Ochoco National Forest, is what’s left of the heart of one of those volcanoes after many years of erosion.
